Navodayada Kirana Leele

Navodayada Kirana Leele is a popular patriotic Kannada bhavageete. Latha and I are presenting this song on the occasion of Rajyotsava day.

The song welcomes the rays of new dawn to shine on this land of Karnataka and open up a golden era…. the magical rays to sprinkle on every aspect of Karnataka, its rich rivers, vast mountain ranges, pristine forests, sacred temples with beautiful sculptures, pure villages, sparkling cities, and finally on the most cherished people that are a pride of this land.

A little bit of background:
Karnataka celebrates Rajyotsava on Nov 1st of every year. As you might know, the state of Karnataka came into being on Nov 1st, 1956 by merging all Kannada speaking districts from Madras Presidency, Nizam’s Hyderabad dominion, Bombay Presidency and the erstwhile Mysore kingdom. As you might also know, Karnataka is the natural home for people speaking Tulu, Konkani, Kodava, Urdu and Beary languages. Further, there are also significant populations of Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Malayalam and many more who have enriched Karnataka’s rich cultural diversity.

I asked Latha to join me in singing this Kannada bhavageethe and she readily agreed and also finished this project with me in a very short time and she did a fantastic job. In addition, Latha also prepared a nice video presentation of this song highlighting different landmarks and people of Karnataka. I am very grateful to Latha for all the hard work she has put in on the voice alignment and video editing. Please do not miss watching this wonderful video :).
